Beagle Wins Best In Show!
For the first time in the breed’s history a Beagle has won best in show at the Westminster Dog Show held in Madison Square Gardens. Uno, made history by becoming the first Beagle to earn the top spot in the entire 100 years of the shows existence.

The final events were held Tuesday night and it was clear Uno was the crowd favorite. he bayed and barked at the judges and his handler. His family friendly personality was displayed wonderfully for the crowd!
Uno’s official name is K-Run’s Park Me in First, he stands 15 inches tall and is nearly 3 years old. He also won the top spot in the hound group - the first Beagle to do that since 1939. The dog show events spanned over 2 days’ worth of competitions, included over 2,600 dogs from 48 states, the District of Columbia, and 6 other countries from around the world. A total of 169 breeds waged war for the coveted “Best in Show” title.

The dog show however, was not without a little bit of controversy - PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) timed their new ad campaign with the New York dog show. They have a total of 3 different commercials in their new campaign, and if you missed them during the dog show - don’t worry, they will be shown more frequently in spring.
The first commercial shows a member of the Ku Klux Klan walking into a meeting of the American Kennel Club. The club members eye him, then realize they have ideas in common after he get the group to agree they both believe in “sanctity of pure bloodlines”. Then a message reading “All dogs are created equal” flashes across the screen.
The second ad shows a mother and father telling their teenage daughter that she can have as many babies as she wants - because they can be left on the streets or dumped off at shelters.
The third ad shows a cute family who just purchased a dog from a breeder. The breeder reaches under the table and plops a body bag on the table in front of the family. The implication is that for every purebred dog that is bought, a dog in a shelter or somewhere else is euthanized.
