Doggy Tugs Are Here!

April 2nd, 2008 by dsheffler

I want to talk to you today about a great new product that has just gone nationwide in the past week: Doggy Tug. I was fortunate enough to be able to test out one of their products and I was also given three Doggy Tugs to give away to my readers (contest details will be available tomorrow - so watch for that post!!).

Assortment of Doggy Tugs

Doggy Tug was started by Kelly Ann Stafford - she created and designed the product when her 9-month old lab Bear grabbed her terrycloth headband and starting playing tug-of-war with it. Kelly fought with Bear to regain control of the headband; unfortunately Bear won - but fortunately Doggy Tugs were born!

Doggy Tug is based in Dallas, TX; they are machine washable and are made of non-toxic materials with a tough core of layered industrial elastic interwoven with industrial rubber and then are sewn together using deep sea fishing line. A portion of their proceeds are donated to Kitty & Dog City, a no-kill animal shelter in Dallas to help abandoned and abused animals. They are currently sponsoring Lucky, one of Michael Vick’s former dogs.

Doggy Tugs are made to last and they are incredible durable! They are meant to be played with by an individual dog, dog-dog, and between dogs and their human families. They are created for dogs of all sizes - including puppies! They can also help keep your dogs teeth clean the orange spikes serve to remove plaque while they play! Currently Doggy Tugs are available at upscale boutiques, hotels, groomers, pet spas, and doggy day cares in Texas. You can also visit http://www.doggytug.com to purchase them online. They range in price from $3.99 - $19.99 depending on the size of your dog and what kind of toy you are looking for. They also carry a line of pet carriers and premium water. Prices range from $19.99 - $49.99 for the carriers, and $0.75 - $12.99 for the water.

Doggy Tug for a large dog

I had the absolute privilege of being able to test out one of their products and I want to tell you about my experience with the Doggy Tug. I was able to test it out on a medium-sized dog and she absolutely loved it! It was very easy to get her interested in the toy and she didn’t want to put it down. I could tell just by using it that the Doggy Tug is meant to last and will put up with just about anything your dog can throw at it.

Doggy Tug with life preserver

This toy would be great if you had two dogs that liked to play with each other, I am sure they could spend hours playing tug-of-war with each other. The handle that I held onto was very strong, and I felt like I could have a very strong grip on the toy while my dog was pulling on the other end. Check out this video they have posted on their website, it really demonstrates the durability of the toy and how much fun your dog will have playing with it!

The terrycloth covered elastic band is very soft to the touch and is able to stretch with ease. My dog was able to shake her head from side to side and pull backwards without me having any fear of the elastic snapping - I have to say, it was really fun to see how happy my dog was playing with it!! I am very excited to announce a contest where three of my readers will be winning their very own Doggy Tug! I know you are all very excited about this, and I am excited also to be able to offer it to you! I will be revealing the details of the contest including all the rules and details about what you need to do to win on my blog tomorrow, so please be sure and check that out!

**I want to give a special thanks to Doggy Tug for donating the tug toys and providing me with the pictures used on this post!**

Thanks for reading! As always your participation in comments and discussions are encouraged and greatly appreciated!!

What a cool idea! I like the way it all happened - that she lost the tug of war!
