What You Need For Your New Cat!

I have done an awful lot of posts about dogs, and I figured it was about time for me to do a post about cats. If you are bringing home a new cat, there are certain cat supplies you need to have at your home to welcome the new arrival.  This post is going to give you a complete list of the supplies you need before you bring your new cat home!

- First (and probably most important), you need food.  Cats do have different preferences, and it is best to pick a food that is the same type as what she was on before.  There are two kinds of food: wet and dry.  It is up to you which one you feed your cat.  As most of us who have had cats know, you will be able to tell right away if the flavor is something she enjoys eating.

- Food and water dishes:  Cats like to drink out of a shallow bowl, so make sure you purchase something she will be comfortable drinking out of.

- Litter and litter box:  This is the grossest part of owning a cat, so my suggestion is to keep the litter box  out of sight.  A good place is in the basement.  But make sure it is in a place where you will remember to clean it out every day.

- Scratching post or play structure:  These are very important, especially if you have an indoor cat.  Cats are very inquisitive, they love to scratch things and climb.  It makes sense to purchase something that will easily fit in your living room – your cat will love it!

- Toys:  Cats love to chase anything that moves, and it is important for your bond with her to be reinforced by playing.

- Collar and ID tags:  These are incredibly important and you should NEVER bring home an animal without making sure they have these two things.  This might be the only way your pet can be returned to you, so it is an absolute necessity!
