Guide Dogs

If you have any type of disability insurance a guide dog can be a great help to you throughout the day.  These dogs are specially trained to help you with whatever you need.  I have personally seen dogs help people cross the street, help them along in their wheelchair, or even fetch certain household items.

The volunteers who help train these dogs have my full respect.  I can only imagine how hard it is to get these dogs to understand what their role is and teach them all the different commands they need to be able to understand.  The most common breed of dog used for guide dog work is the Labrador Retriever.  These dogs are very friendly and are great companion dogs.  They are also very smart, loyal, and follow directions very well.  My hat goes off to the great men and women who devote their lives to training great guide dogs – these dogs go on to help many people live normal lives.
