Meals on Wheels Delivers to Pets

March 26th, 2009 by dsheffler

With the struggling economy, many pet owners can barely afford to pay for their own food let alone food for their pets.  A program called Meals on Wheels used to deliver solely to senior citizens, now that program has expanded to include their pets too.  The program has seen an increase in the number of clients so it comes as no surprise that they have expanded.

I have read many stories of people losing their homes to foreclosure, losing their pets, and not being able to afford even the most basic necessities.  I blogged before about pet food banks being set up across the country, and I believe these types of places will only increase the further we get into this recession.  It is important for pet owners to know that there is help out there for them; help that doesn’t involve them giving their pets up.  If you have a story about a business or charity in your area that is helping out pet owners, please leave me a comment - I am always looking for good news to blog about!

Thanks for reading!  As always your participation in comments and discussions are encouraged and greatly appreciated!!
