Strong Warning For Pet Owners

March 26th, 2009 by dsheffler

Ever heard of Stimerex ES?  I hadn’t heard about it either until I started reading online.  It is a new diet drug that can be potentially very dangerous for your pets.  I really cannot stress enough how important it is to keep these away from your pets.  I would like to share with you some warning signs of poisoning and what you should do if you think your pet has been poisoned.

Common Signs of Poisoning:

  • Muscle tremors
  • Vomiting
  • Excessive drooling or foaming around the mouth
  • Swelling
  • Redness around the eyes, ears, or on the skin
  • Excessive licking or pawing at the skin
  • Diarrhea
  • Body temperature - elevated or extremely low

What to do if your pet has been poisoned:

  • Write down the EXACT name of the toxin you suspect was ingested, inhaled, or consumed
  • Know about how much was taken in
  • Estimate the amount of time it has been in your pet’s system
  • Know the weight of your pet
  • Be able to acknowledge the warning sings (any symptom listed above)
  • If you have the box or bottle, take it with you
  • Call your veterinarian or Poison Control right away - do not induce vomiting unless they advise you to

All you need to do is make sure you are aware of what chemicals and products you have in your house that could harm your pet.  Read all directions carefully and keep them in a high place where your dog or cat cannot get to them.

Thanks for reading!  As always your participation in comments and discussions are encouraged and greatly appreciated!!
