Fencing For a Beagle
We have a fenced in backyard which has been really helpful for Maggie. She is not really familiar with our yard yet so she has been outside on leash every time. Our fence is wooden along the back and chain link on the sides. Since Beagles are a hunting breed, she has been really interested in birds and rabbits (which we have plenty of). If you are looking at getting a new dog, it is essential to look into how much pvc fence installation would be.
Beagles are hunters by nature so it is their instinct to sniff out a trail and investigate animals of all kinds. You need to make sure your yard is properly fenced so they cannot escape. Eventually, once she becomes comfortable with her surroundings she will be allowed in the backyard off-leash. We do have a retractable leash that she likes to run around on – she has another regular leash that we use on walks. But she really enjoys the freedom of running on the retractable leash.
