KEEP YOUR DOGS OUT OF THE CAR WHEN IT’S HOT! **UPDATED**
I live in St. Louis, and just this past week, there was a report of a dog trainer who left eight show dogs inside a cargo van overnight. It has been in the 90′s here recently, so you can probably guess how this story ends. The lady left the dogs in the van with the windows down and six fans blowing on them. She went to bed inside, checking on them twice. The first time, all the dogs seemed to be fine and breathing normally. When she went out the second time, some of the dogs were not responsive and one of the dogs’ breathing was very labored.
The breeds included a top-ranked Akita, Dalmation, and a Husky. Seven of the eight dogs died due to the excessive heat, and the eigth dog continues to be treated at a local animal hospital. As of right now, the trainer has not been charged with any crimes – but I would like to think she would receive some sort of punishment for her crime. I personally cannot understand why anyone would think it was okay to leave the dogs inside a hot van overnight. The woman is a PAID, professional dog trainer – she of all people should know better.
It’s truly a heartbreaking story, but it is a strong reminder to all dog owners. Please share this story with anyone who owns a dog – this could help save a dog’s life.
**** I just read today that the trainer was charged with eight counts of animal cruelty – she is free on a $2500 bond. I will keep you updated as new information becomes available to me. ****

I agree, it was truly a very sad story. This post serves as a reminder that all the time, we must consider our dogs safety.

Please do keep us updated on this story. WHat in the HELL is wrong with that woman? And she is supposed to be a professional? Someone who other people trust with their beloved animals? Man, this just makes you realize that you really never know about people. Never underestimate the stupidity of people.

This is a tragic story and my heart goes out to the owners of these dogs. [Who by the way should sue this lady] Hopefully this is an eye opener to others that think leaving their dogs in the car is ok, because its not!
