Guard Dogs
Some people get pets for all the wrong reasons - and getting on as your form of protection is one wrong reason. There are many problems with having a dog that is trained to protect you - you will always be unsure of his behavior, how will you know how he’ll react around strangers? People you invite over to your house? If your dog sees any one of those people as a threat to you, he will protect you because that’s what he has been taught to do.
I don’t understand why people still feel it’s necessary to specifically train their dog as an attack dog. Wouldn’t it be easier to install home alarms? Once you have trained your dog to attack or bark when he sees strange people, it will be incredibly hard to get him to stop that behavior. Just think about the reasons you are getting a dog - make sure they are for love and companionship!
