Eye Health For Your Dog

Just like people, dogs get build up in the corners of their eyes – this is perfectly normal (although it can be kind of gross).  Maggie gets them pretty much every day, and I have to wipe under her eyes with a tissue in order to keep her clean.  For most pet owners, wiping the build up off is perfectly acceptable, but I was wondering why there isn’t an under eye cream for dogs that is formulated to reduce the amount of build up, or completely get rid of it.

The condition I mentioned above is commonly referred to as “tear staining” and it is most common in small breed dogs – but I had a black lab/newfoundland mix who also got  build up in the corners of her eyes.  There are many products on the market that will help remove the stains the tears cause, but you need to be careful and make sure you do not get any of the product in your pet’s eyes!

Keeping the area around your pet’s eyes clean  will help prevent eye infections – so keep your pet’s eyes clean!

Thanks for reading!  We’ll bark at you later!

    Hi ya

just wanted to let you know that there are food additives that will prevent the staining in the first place.

Some such as angels eyes and angels glow are tylosin antibiotic based (and illegal) there are also natural products such as Angels Delight and Naturvet.

You just add it to the food and sit back and wait

    Regards
