Caring For Your Older Pet
This can be a hard subject for many people to discuss because pets are so much a part of our lives. When pets get older, they need to be cared for properly, taken to the vet often, and pampered as much as possible. The last dog I owned had terrible problems with her joints in her old age. We gave her joint pain supplements that eased some of her pain, but eventually we had to put her to sleep. This can be a very difficult decision, but one you must prepare yourself to make. Our dog was just in too much pain, and we knew there wasn’t anything else we could do for her.
It’s important to give your dog the best quality of life you possibly can and making tough decisions is something that shouldn’t be handled by one person – it should be discussed with the whole family and a decision should be made that way so everyone can feel comfortable.
