Should I Neuter My Male Dog?
In previous articles I’ve covered how important it is to have your female dog spayed, but what about your male dog? In this article today, I will go over the importance of having your male dog neutered. Please take a minute to read over this article, and if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact your veterinarian.
In general, male dogs do not need a testosterone booster to help them out – they already have plenty of it built up in their system. Males dogs that have been neutered tend to be less aggressive both towards people and other animals. The best thing to do is have your male dog neutered before the age of one.
Male dogs that have been neutered tend to stay close to home and the chances of them roaming are less when they are neutered. They will also be better students when you are trying to train them as they will be less distracted by scents in the air.
Beyond the behavioral problems – having your male dog neutered will also help his physical health as well. Tumors in the testes are non-existent (as they are removed during the neutering process) which eliminates the cancer associated with them. Prostate problems are fewer and the risk of hernias are also reduced.
