AKC Certified?

February 17th, 2010 by dsheffler

If you have a dog that is purebred, there are certain papers you need to prove it.  Recently a Beagle from the mid-west won the AKC annual dog show and I have to say that it was an underdog type situation.  If you need to get your papers to the right people so your dog can be considered for the show, it would be helpful to have document scanning software so you can email the paperwork.

Just remember that not all dog breeds are recognized by the American Kennel Club, and there are certain restrictions/requirements your dog must meet in order to be eligible.  The most important being your dog must be fully intact (not spayed or neutered).  Certain breeds have specific requirements that must be met (Dalmatians must have a certain number of spots, and other breeds such as the Chow must have the correct colored tongue).  If you are thinking about entering your dog, please visit the American Kennel Club’s website to find the regulations.

Thanks for reading!  We’ll bark at you later!
