Planet Dog Has the Goods!

March 29th, 2010 by dsheffler

I wanted to share some great information with all of you regarding Planet Dog and their treats/toys.  This past weekend, I had the pleasure of receiving some samples of their latest tasty treats.  I received two flavors - pumpkin pear ginger, and salmon seafood chowder - both of which Maggie absolutely LOVED!

The pumpkin in the treats help to aid digestion because of it’s high fiber content, and it is a natural remedy for stomach ailments including constipation and mild diarrhea.  It is packed with beta carotein and high in vitamins C, K, and E.  They are also an excellent source of magnesium, iron,  and potassium.  Feeding this fruit to a dog can help lower their risk of cancer, cataracts, and heart disease.  Because it is low in fat and calories, it is an excellent food substitute for dogs with weight problems.

Ginger  is a perennial herb that has potent anti-inflammatory properties, stimulates digestion, and enhances the immune system.  Research has shown that ginger lowers blood cholesterol by reducing cholesterol absorption in the blood and liver.

As soon as I opened each package she was sitting in front of me with wide eyes and a wagging tail - she just couldn’t get enough of them!

At first I was highly skeptical of the seafood treats.  I thought they would have a distinctive smell and that Maggie would not like them at all.  I couldn’t have been more wrong!  Maggie devoured the seafood treats and was begging for me as soon as I put them away.  I am 100% sure I have found the new treat for Maggie!

The salmon seafood chowder treats feature salmon which is rich in minerals and provides and excellent source of high quality protein that contains all essential amino acids.  It is also a good source of vitamins A, D, B6, B12, and E.  Vitamin E and Omega 3 oils found in the salmon oil help decrease the risk of heart disease.  Omega 3 oil can also lower triglycerides and low-density cholesterol in the blood, aid in regulation of blood sugar levels, inhibit tumor growth and lower the risk of cancer.  Because salmon oil is so easy to digest, it is an excellent food source for dogs of all ages.

The great thing about these treats is the fact that they are organic  and full of proteins and vitamins.  When I give them to Maggie, I know I am not giving her something that is full of fillers or cheap ingredients.  I am giving her a gourmet dog treat and giving her something that is good for her health.

In addition to the treats, I received Orbee-Tuff toys which are virtually indestructible.  Maggie has only recently  become interested in chasing balls, but the ones we have given her are quickly destroyed.  The ones I received from Planet Dog will last her a very long time and not only are they great for her to chew on - they also help her breath at the same time!

Maggie has a pretty bad case of doggie breath and these Orbee-Tuff toys from Planet Dog have a minty taste that helps to freshen her breath.  If your dog is tough on toys or has infamous doggie breath - Orbee-Tuff toys are for you!

Planet Dog is proud to donate 2% of every purchase of every Planet Dog product to the Planet Dog Foundation (PDF) to support canine service programs nationwide.  PDF provides cash grants to programs throughout the country that train, place, and support dogs who help people in need.

Since January 2006, PDF has given away more than half a million dollars in cash grants and in-kind product donations.  For more information please visit: www.planetdogfoundation.org

I hope you enjoyed my post today - I’ll be adding some pictures of Maggie with her Planet Dog treats as well as the Orbee-Tuff toys, so be looking for those soon!

Thanks for reading!  We’ll bark at you later!
