Is Your Dog Expecting?

May 28th, 2010 by dsheffler

If your dog is expecting there are things you need to know and be aware of.  Make sure you have talked to your vet about a prenatal vitamin program that will give your dog the extra nutrients she needs to have a healthy litter.  Make sure your mother is in a comfortable spot when giving birth and the best thing to do is have them go to the vet for delivery.  Most vets will give you their personal telephone numbers so you can have contact with them during this stressful time.

Having a litter of puppies is a huge responsibility and can be expensive so it is important to make sure you are ready to accept this responsibility.  If you don’t want your dog to have puppies, please make sure they are fixed - there are many animals in shelters that desperately need a loving home.  Don’t add to the problem by not spaying or neutering your pet.

Thanks for reading!  We’ll bark at you later!

I do have a dog, it passed away about 3 year ago due to lack of nutrition.

Prenatal regimen for the mother, I guess that makes complete sense, not something that I have given much though to, but great article, an eyeopener for those of us with expectant furry friends!
