About the St. Charles Humane Society:

The St. Charles Humane Society was established in 1973 and is the only no-kill animal shelter in the county I live in!!

They care for and place nearly 1,000 per year and if they have room, they travel to other shelters to save animals whose time is almost up.

The majority of their animals come from private citizens who are unable to keep their pets for one reason or another, and they love and care for them until they find another family for them to join.  They also work with the Missouri Department of Agriculture and take some of the animals they rescue from bad situations such as hoarders or unlicensed breeding facilities.

Most of the animals they accept are healthy, with only the expected worms or mild skin conditions which are treated and clear up rapidly, but they do take some animals in bad shape who require extensive medical treatment or need a foster home for a long recovery.  These pets need help the most but their care is expensive, even with local vets working with them to keep costs down.

They rely on people like you to help them to provide care for these animals, whether by making monetary or in kind donations, volunteering or being a foster parent.  The St. Charles Humane Society is a not-for-profit 501c3 organization and therefore does NOT receive tax dollars—all of our funding comes from concerned citizens willing to open their hearts and wallets to their cause.

All of their adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and wormed; dogs are heartworm tested and on preventative and cats are tested for FeLV and FIV.

I volunteered at the St. Charles Humane Society, so I know how strapped they are, and how much it takes to keep the facility running on a daily basis.   If you could find it in your hearts to donate, even if it is only a few dollars, I know the money will not be wasted.  It will be going directly towards helping abandoned animals.

About Pet Rescue of Miami:

Pet Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit organization devoted to saving the lives of homeless and abandoned pets, and to finding these animals loving homes since 1982.  Pet Rescue, Inc. is a no-kill animal shelter, providing care to unwanted cats and dogs, attending to their needs until a suitable home is found, offering a second chance at life!

They Do Not Euthanize Animals In Their Care!  Pet Rescue is an alternative to the thousands of deaths suffered by unwanted pets on the streets and in many shelters.  Pet Rescue spays or neuters all animals that come into their care, providing food, veterinary care and shelter until a home can be found - no matter how long it takes.

The shelter is open daily from 11:30AM to 4:00PM.  If you would like to see a cat or dog at the shelter, please call 305-621-8354 (voice mail) for an appointment to ensure the adoption counselor is on site.  Adoption fees are $95 for dogs, $65 for cats and is considered a donation to their shelter making it tax deductible.  The adoption fee includes spaying or neutering, all shots and vet exam.

Donations will be split 50-50 between the two no-kill shelters.  Thank you for helping make this a better world for our furry friends!!
